Social Media & Online Communities

Students often choose to participate in social media and online communities (familiar examples include Instagram, SnapChat, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).  While the university recognizes that these online communities are an integral part of modern communication, students must carefully consider the information and comments they post online. For their own safety and success, students should assume that any information they post online is visible and accessible to everyone.

Students are as responsible for their words and actions online as they are in any interpersonal interaction, private forum, or public forum. Behavior inconsistent with the University’s mission, values, community standards, or Code of Student Conduct will not be exempted from the conduct process simply because it occurred or originated online.
